part\u00edculas e de astropart\u00edculas baseada em aceleradores.Estudando tamb\u00e9m outras \u00e1reas importantes, como ondas gravitacionais e a exist\u00eancia de mat\u00e9ria escura, conduz pesquisas sobre os blocos de constru\u00e7\u00e3o elementares do universo, suas for\u00e7as m\u00fatuas e a estrutura do espa\u00e7o e do tempo.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mktoText\">O desafio<\/h2>\n<p class=\"mktoText\">Envolvido em projetos de pesquisa como ALICE, ATLAS, experimentos de LHCb no CERN, dentre outros, o Instituto percebeu que todos os estudos exigiam o mais alto n\u00edvel de poder computacional e produziam enormes quantidades de dados.Antecipando um aumento nos fluxos de entrada de dados do CERN, o Nikhef decidiu expandir seu conglomerado de computa\u00e7\u00e3o de alto desempenho (HTC) com servidores Lenovo ThinkSystem SR655, com processadores da fam\u00edlia de CPUs AMD EPYC \u2122 7002 e GPUs AMD Radeon\u2122.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"mktoText\"><strong>A Escolha<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p class=\"mktoText\">A combina\u00e7\u00e3o vencedora de alta densidade de n\u00facleo e capacidade de mem\u00f3ria, que oferece excelente desempenho para cargas de trabalho intensivas de dados, fez o Instituto escolher as tecnologias Lenovo ThinkSystem com processadores AMD.O Nikhef trabalhou com uma equipe da Lenovo para instalar a nova extens\u00e3o de cluster, que consiste em 67 servidores com mais de 3.800 n\u00facleos de computa\u00e7\u00e3o AMD e 14 placas aceleradoras de GPU AMD Radeon \u2122 Instinct \u2122 MI50 e 31 TB de
